For my college capstone project, my goal was to create a series of images representing visually the experience of Alzheimer's disease and it's progressive effects on perception. Using my own family Christmas photo to enhance a sense of intimacy in the project, I successively altered the base photo based around reported effects of Alzheimer's at different stages (inability to recognize faces, changes in color perception, and near late stages a loss of object recognition and perception of light). Much of the visuals I employed here are my own personal interpretations of how the mental loss can be represented.
